Match Review Panel full statement: round three

The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the matches played in round three of the 2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. The following charges were laid:

Charges Laid:
Chris Yarran, Carlton, has been charged with striking Paul Chapman, Essendon, during the first quarter of the Round Three match between Carlton and Essendon, played at the MCG on Saturday April 18, 2015.

In summary, he has been referred directly to the Tribunal for the offence to be heard and cannot accept an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Essendon Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as intentional conduct with high impact to the head. The offence was classified as a direct referral to the tribunal, with no early plea offered. The player has no applicable bad record.

Rory Sloane, Adelaide Crows, has been charged with being the instigator of melee at three quarter time of the Round Three match the Adelaide Crows and Melbourne, played at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 18, 2015.

In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

A first offence for being the instigator a melee is a $2500 sanction. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a $1500 sanction.

Scott Thompson, Adelaide Crows, has been charged with a second offence for engaging in a melee at three quarter time of the Round Three match the Adelaide Crows and Melbourne, played at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 18, 2015.

In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

A second offence for engaging in a melee is a $2500 sanction. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a $1500 sanction.

Josh Jenkins, Adelaide Crows, has been charged with charged with a first offence for engaging in a melee at three quarter time of the Round Three match between the Adelaide Crows and Melbourne, played at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 18, 2015.
In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

A first offence for engaging in a melee is classified as a $1500 sanction. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a $1000 sanction.
