Kennedy and Priddis run riot as Eagles blow away hapless Lions

WEST Coast has started the season in perfect fashion with Josh Kennedy kicking eight goals in a 64-point win over the Brisbane Lions at Domain Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Eagles did as they pleased for much of the night with Matt Priddis racking up an astonishing 29 first-half possessions on his way to 43 in the 26.10 (166) to 15.12 (102) win.
With Lions full-back Daniel Merrett withdrawing due to illness, reigning Coleman medallist Kennedy enjoyed plenty of freedom up forward to finish with eight majors, as well as dishing off plenty of others.
Nic Naitanui won the ruck battle with Stef Martin, while ex-Lion Jack Redden enjoyed his first game at his new club.
The visitors actually started brightly and matched the Eagles in the first term with five goals, but the hosts simply had too much fire power.
West Coast had too many avenues to goal and by half-time and already kicked 13 majors to open up a 39-point advantage and effectively seal the result.
The Eagles finished off strongly with Kennedy booting four final-quarter goals to round off a near perfect game.
