Dogs down Blues, but injuries make win costly

THE WESTERN Bulldogs bounced back from last week's loss to Hawthorn with a comfortable 36-point win against Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night, but suffered what could prove to be costly injuries.

Jason Johannisen hurt a hamstring in the third quarter after kicking a long goal, and minutes later Matt Suckling appeared to injure his ankle.
Suckling returned to the field, but in the final term Tom Boyd left the field nursing a shoulder and failed to take any further part in the match.
The Blues showed encouraging signs in a competitive second half, with further good performances from draftees Jacob Weitering and Charlie Curnow.
However, it was never going to be enough to worry the Bulldogs who move to 3-1 with the 13.7 (85) to 7.7 (49) result.
