Match report: Blues break duck to leave winless Dockers in disarray

Alex Malcolm April 24, 2016 6:50 PM

CARLTON has broken through for its first win of the season and left Fremantle's season in disarray with a four-point triumph at Domain Stadium on Sunday.

The Dockers lost Nat Fyfe to injury before half-time, but the brave Blues were fully deserving of the 10.12 (72) to 9.14 (68) victory.

They scrapped hard and made the most of their opportunities in a thrilling final term with leaders Marc Murphy and Bryce Gibbs kicking crucial goals, as well as two from Liam Jones.

Dale Thomas booted three goals in a strong performance, while ex-Crows Matt Wright and Sam Kerridge were prolific.

The loss leaves the winless Dockers rooted to the bottom of the ladder and counting the cost with Michael Johnson also suffering an injury in the final term.
