Melbourne has won back-to-back games for the first time since 2011 after a 20.9 (129) to 14.12 (96) victory over Richmond at the MCG on Sunday night. The Demons impressed with their attacking play which resulted in the 33-point win which adds further pressure to the Tigers, who remain on just one win for the season.
Jack Viney led the way with 37 touches in the engine room, while he received excellent service from in-form ruckman Max Gawn, who had 47 hitouts and two goals.
Jeff Gartlett bagged four in his comeback game for the Dees. Tigers star Jack Riewoldt and Sam Lloyd both kicked three goals apiece.
The loss for the Tigers was soured with a fourth-quarter report for key defender Alex Rance after he hit Jack Watts in the back of the head with his forearm. Melbourne will now take on St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Saturday while Richmond hosts Port Adelaide at the MCG. More to come
