Match report: Red-hot Giants stand tall over Suns
May 14, 2016 7:12 PM
GREATER Western Sydney has enhanced its finals claims with a dominant 91-point win over Gold Coast at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.
The 22.17 (149) to 9.4 (58) result is the Giants' fifth-straight win after a slow start to the season, while the Suns have now lost their last five along with all the momentum and goodwill from being undefeated after round three.
The victory was built on strength around the ground, with the injury-plagued Suns unable to match the Giants' running midfielders.
The home team's class out of the centre made the job easy for key forwards Jeremy Cameron (seven goals), Rory Lobb (three) and Jonathon Patton (two), although as often as not the on-ballers finished the job themselves. Gary Ablett was hurt in the dying seconds of the game after a solid personal performance.
