Match report: Saints bounce back with win over spirited Bombers

A STRONG third-quarter showing has guided St Kilda to a 46-point win over Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The game was broken wide open in the third term when the Saints kicked six goals in a row to extend their buffer over the Bombers. The win returned St Kilda to the winner's circle after losing by 103 points to West Coast in round eight.
Saints forward Josh Bruce booted five goals in the 16.13 (109) to 9.9 (63) win, while Jack Steven dominated in midfield with 40 touches, a goal and a hand in three others.
Paddy McCartin also impressed with two goals and a goal assist while looking like an imposing figure up forward in his return game for St Kilda.
Mitch Brown kicked four second-half goals for the Bombers while James Kelly had a team-high 33 disposals.
Weiterlesen ...The match was marred by poor skills early, but the Saints lifted their kicking efficiency to 81 per cent midway through the third term after travelling at a disappointing 59 per cent in the first half.
